Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
ShortFactory is a private, self-hosted application used by one person, its owner, to prepare short videos and publish them to their own YouTube channel. This policy explains what data the application handles and how.
YouTube API Services
ShortFactory uses YouTube API Services to upload videos and to read video statistics. By using the application, the owner agrees to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Who can use the application
Only the owner. The application sits behind a login on the owner's own server. There is no public sign-up and no other user can connect a Google or YouTube account to it.
What data the application accesses
When the owner connects their YouTube channel, the application receives from Google:
- An authorization token that lets it act on the owner's channel, within the permission the owner granted.
- The channel's name and identifier, to show which channel is connected.
- For videos on the owner's own channel: their publication status and date, and their statistics — views, likes, comments, shares, average view duration, average percentage viewed and subscribers gained.
The application does not access the owner's Google password, e-mail, contacts or any other Google service. It does not access information about viewers, commenters or any other YouTube user.
How the data is used
- To upload the owner's videos to the owner's channel, with the title, description and publication time the owner chose.
- To display the statistics of the owner's videos to the owner, so they can judge which videos perform well.
The data is not used for advertising, is not used to build profiles of anyone, and is not combined with data from other sources.
Where the data is stored and for how long
Everything is stored in a database on the owner's own server, which is not publicly accessible. Statistics are refreshed from YouTube several times a day and are kept only while the channel stays connected. The authorization token is kept until the owner disconnects the channel or revokes access.
Sharing
The application does not sell, rent, transfer or share any data obtained through YouTube API Services with any third party.
Cookies
The application uses one session cookie, to keep the owner logged in. It uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. This public website uses no cookies at all.
Revoking access and deleting data
- Access can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.
- Removing the YouTube account inside the application immediately deletes the stored authorization token and the statistics that were read from the channel.
- To request deletion of any stored data, write to the address below. Requests are handled within 7 days.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
